Hell Hath No Hunger (and its counterpart AU/sequel Be the Prey) is a horror story inspired by Asian folklore set in 2019-2020 USA. It revolves around the life of Misa Manalo, who makes a devil's deal to save her mother, unwittingly transforming into a manananggal—a ravenous creature of the night. Her obsession with her unrequited love spirals into madness as the line between desire and destruction blurs.

In between the busy moments of her life as a successful designer for a dating app in Silicon Valley, Misa daydreams about a cliche, fairytale romance. She plans to tell her long time friend and crush Paul how she really feels about him until she receives devastating news of her mother Megumi being hospitalized. Bedridden and full of regrets, Megumi confides in Misa that she wonders if she could've had a different life if she was honest with her feelings with the first girl she fell in love with in her youth. But she believes now its too late for second chances for her, this was the end of her life.
She urges Misa to be honest with Paul so she doesn't miss her chance like she did. Misa musters up the courage to tell Paul... with a smile, he tells her "I love you," but will not leave his girlfriend.
Devasted, Misa receives even worse news: her mother's only hope of being saved is an extremely expensive surgery.
In a moment of coincidence, she reconnects with Amber, an old college acquaintance who now works for a mysterious pharmaceutical company. Amber offers a deal: In exchange for sponsorship of her mother's medical treatment, Misa must participate in an experimental drug trial. Though she could afford it on her own (albeit, with some sacrifices...), the allure of saving her mother—and her own delusional romantic dreams—clouds her judgment, and Misa agrees.As the days pass, Misa finds herself consumed by her thoughts of Paul, how much heartbreak, longing, anger she feels, and ...how hungry she is.
Unbeknownst to her, the experimental drug trial would turn Misa into a manananggal, a vampiric winged creature of the night that can split her body into two.Misa descends into monstruous madness as the lines between infatuation, hunger, ambition, loneliness, and appetite begin to blur. Amber is Misa's old college acquaintance who manipulated her into giving up her humanity for a chance at a hopeless romantic's dream. AU where everything is somewhat the same but misa and amber are men. what can i say, i like men and i like men liking men. This story would take place after the events of Hell Hath No Hunger. It is the sequel/counterpart to HHNH.Minato is a 27 year old newly unemployed, newly-turned manananggal loser. Everything seems to be going wrong in his life: he lost his job, his car, his crypto, his arm, his sanity, and his best friend (that part was his fault). He's hellbent on killing the man who Minato blames his fall from grace on- the enigmatic and calculating Amber, the man who manipulated him into the drug trial. After all, Amber stole away his humanity, his dreams, his left arm, and his "precious" Tesla.Amber is unfazed by Minato’s threats of revenge. In fact, Amber prods him on. He'd rather Minato kill as a monster rather than man. A part of her wonders if there is more to her life than this.

I created Hell Hath No Hunger back in 2020 when the pandemic. Most of my drawings you can see on my private instagram. It was inspired Turn off the Light by Kim Petras, and by the nights alone in my dorm in undergrad staying up until 3am every night and going to sleep lonely and hungry because the dining hall food was actually disgusting.
If it wasn't already obvious, the title is inspired by the phrase "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." It was formerly titled "Requite" but that was dumb so I renamed it.Be the Prey was first created in late 2022.
